I got photo of the sun setting behind a neighbor’s house and through the leaves of a tree in our back yard. I thought the color was pretty and that the image would make a nice poster. I played with the photo and got this result. What do your think?

As the Sun Sets in the Mountains

September 18, 2018

(This picture can be enlarged by clicking on it. Clicking a second time will make it full-sized.)

We celebrated Betsy’s birthday at Pisgah Inn on the Blue Ridge Parkway in North Carolina. Our room had a beautiful view of the mountains, although we couldn’t see either the rising or the setting sun from our room. I took a picture from out balcony on the first evening we were there as the sun started to set. The beautiful sky and the patches of fog in the valley made me feel that the photo would make a pretty good painting. With the help of Photoshop, this is the result.

Bali Sunset

Way back in 1987 I had the joy of spending a few days on the island of Bali.  This was about as close to a tropical paradise as I am ever likely to see.  This photo of a Bali sunset was taken at our hotel at Kuta Beach.  Way back then I was shooting Kodak slide film, and this image was scanned from a slide taken at that time.

When we visit Mt. Nebo State Park in the Spring, sunsets are special because we can sit on the back porch of ‘our’ cabin and enjoy the view.  This drawing is based on a photo taken on our visit last year.

From My Archives: Twilight Moon

While going through some old files in my archive, I came across this photo of the moon which was taken as we walked the golf course at dusk on an evening back in 2006.  At that time I only had a point-and-shoot camera, but I like the color of the sky in this photo.

There are many of advantages to living on the Plateau, one of which is the beautiful sunsets we often see, especially in winter.  This picture was taken on the Druid Hills Golf Course in January, 2009.

Betsy and I were treated to a beautiful sunset here in the Glade on the afternoon we got back from our Thanksgiving trip.  We enjoyed the beautiful gold color of the sky as the sun went down.

A Mountain Evening Sky

Our good friends Judy and Charlie have a vacation cabin in the mountains near Franklin, North Carolina.  We always enjoy the view of the evening sky from they deck when we visit them.  This is what we enjoyed one August evening.
