Lost Creek Falls

Betsy and I visited Lost Creek Falls here in Tennessee several years ago. It was a nice enough little waterfall, but I have never been impressed with the photos I got. So I recently played around in Photoshop with one of my photos and got this ‘painting’.  I rather like this.

Betsy and I visited King’s Bluff Falls in February, 2013, on our visit to Arkansas.  The hike to the falls was pleasant, and, thanks to a zoom lens, I was able to get a close-up view of water going over the brink of the falls.  I tweaked the image in Photoshop to make it look more like a modern art painting.

A Little Snow for Betsy

Since we never seem to get enough snow (according to Betsy) here in the Glade, I’m constantly on the lookout for pictures of snow to try to cheer her up.  There’s not a lot of snow in this image which I got way back in 1987 (it’s hard to believe that was 30 years ago!).  I was shooting slide film way back then, so this image is scanned from a slide made at the time.  The picture was shot at Juneau International Airport, where we made a refueling stop on a flight to Hong Kong.  It was taken in June, and I was on my first trip to China.

Betsy and I enjoy celebrating Valentine Day by visiting waterfalls.  February is a great month for hiking here in the South.  The weather is usually fairly mild, and we often have the waterfalls to ourselves.

This pencil sketch is based on a photo I took of Fall Branch Falls near Blue Ridge, Georgia, in February, 2012.

Betsy at Rutledge Falls

This drawing was made from a photograph of Betsy that I took when we visited Rutledge Falls in Tullahoma, Tennessee, in January.  It was a pretty day, and I was able to get the photo from a spot on the bluff opposite the falls which showed her standing in front the several drops of the waterfall.

Betsy and I would like to wish each and every one of you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy and Blessed New Year.  We hope that Santa is good to you, and all of your memories are happy ones.  We’ll see you in 2012.

The picture on which this drawing was based is shown below.

The Birthday Girl and the Sunflowers

I snapped this this picture of Betsy surrounded by sunflowers at the Biltmore Estate in Asheville, North Carolina.  The sunflowers were beautiful, but my Beautiful Bride was even more so.
