Betsy and I visited King’s Bluff Falls in February, 2013, on our visit to Arkansas.  The hike to the falls was pleasant, and, thanks to a zoom lens, I was able to get a close-up view of water going over the brink of the falls.  I tweaked the image in Photoshop to make it look more like a modern art painting.

Betsy often encourages me to be ‘creative’ when taking photos.  I don’t think of myself as particularly creative, but I did get this foggy picture of the needles on a pine tree while we were at Mt. Nebo in Arkansas.

Most of you know that Betsy and I go to Mt. Nebo in Arkansas each Spring.  We try to visit a new place each time we go, and a couple of years ago we stopped by Dierks Lake, a lake formed on the Saline River in Arkansas.  I got a picture of this old tree trunk along the shore, and I thought it would make a great painting.

Betsy and I stay in the same cabin each time we go to Mt. Nebo in Arkansas.  It’s a one-bedroom stone cabin on the western rim of the mountain with glorious views of the sunsets.  This watercolor is based on a picture I took on our visit in February of this year.

We have many reasons for visiting Mount Nebo in Arkansas — the peace and beauty of ‘our’ cabin on the mountaintop, beautiful mountain views, gorgeous sunsets and beautiful sunrises.  This painting is based on a photo of a sunrise I took from Sunrise Point in March, 2012.

Betsy and I have enjoyed Spring blossoms in Garvan Woodland Gardens in Arkansas a couple of times.  If you are near Hot Springs, Arkansas, Garvan Gardens is definitely worth a visit.  I captured these azalea blossoms during a visit in 2011.

The picture on which this painting was based is shown below.

When Betsy and I go to Mt. Nebo in Arkansas, we really enjoy watching the sunsets.  One reason we like them so much is that we can enjoy sunsets from our cabin.  In order to enjoy a sunrise we have to get up early and drive to Sunrise Point in order to see it.

But the effort is worth it, even on a cloudy morning.  The image above is based on a sunrise in we enjoyed last year.

The picture on which this painting was based is shown below.

When we visit Mt. Nebo State Park in the Spring, sunsets are special because we can sit on the back porch of ‘our’ cabin and enjoy the view.  This drawing is based on a photo taken on our visit last year.

The Pedestal Rock Scenic Area in the Ozark National Forest of Arkansas featured a couple of nice hiking trails, a waterfall, and beautiful lichen-covered rock pedestals created by millions of years of erosion.  The drawing above shows one of the pedestals we encountered on our hikes.

The picture on which this drawing was based is shown below.

In February, 2010, Betsy and I explored the Ouachita Mountains on our way to Mt. Nebo in Arkansas.  It was the first time we had visited that part of Arkansas, and while we were looking for waterfalls we found plenty of other beauty to enjoy.

The watercolor above shows the beautiful, colorful rocks in the bed of a creek we crossed over as we drove through the Ouachitas.

The picture on which this watercolor was based is shown below.
