I took this October photo looking up at the sky through the leaves of the dogwood tree in our front yard.  I then used Photoshop to make it look more like a painting.

Autumn on the Cumberland Plateau is beautiful no matter what your point of view!

Winter has a cold beauty that can make the frigid temperatures a little more bearable.  This photo, from my archives, was taken in our yard on a clear day following an ice storm here in the Glade.

I often think that cloudy winter skies are boring, but often that is not the case at all.  This painting is based on a photo I took a couple of years ago while looking east as the sun set on a cloudy Winter’s day.  The color of the sky was gorgeous.

Our house is all decorated and ready for Christmas.  Betsy is wishing for some snow to complete the picture, but I’m not sure she’ll get it.  This sketch is based on a photo I took several years ago.

Last Thursday, February 13, the day after our snow storm, was absolutely gorgeous.  The sky was was a beautiful blue, and provided a wonderful contrast to the white snow on the ground and clinging to the trees.

This sketch was based on a photo looking up the fairway behind our house.

We haven’t gotten much snow here on the Plateau this winter (much to Betsy’s disgust), but earlier this month we got a couple of inches of snow.  This painting is based on a photo I took on the morning of January 6 of the fairway behind our house .

Lake Dartmoor is the largest lake in Fairfield Glade.  Most of the homes along the lakefront have their own dock, and there is a marina as well  Betsy and I took a cruise on Lake Dartmoor several years ago, which is when I took this photo of one arm of the lake.

The picture on which this water color was based is from my archives and is shown below.

Few things in summer are prettier than white, fluffy clouds in a beautiful blue sky.  This drawing is based on a photo I found in my archives.  The photo was taken at our house in August, 2010.

The picture on which this drawing was based is shown below.

We think Fairfield Glade is beautiful in any season and at any time of the day.  This scene shows a fairway on the the Druid Hills Golf Course in the early morning with fog in the valley below.

The picture on which this painting is based was taken on a June morning several years ago and is shown below.

Dianthus Blossom

Betsy and I grow roses, but we have many other varieties of flowers in our yard.  We have a couple of large clumps of dianthus growing in a rock garden.  The photo which served as a basis for this painting was taken on a sunny April day two years ago.
