Don’t tell Betsy, but I’m getting tired of winter weather even if we haven’t had any snow to speak of.  I’ll confess I miss seeing our roses in bloom.  Fortunately I can still enjoy them through pictures.  Our Peppermint Splash rose has beautiful color and unusual markings.

The picture on which this painting was based is shown below.

Aberdeen was one of the areas of Hong Kong which I visited on my first trip to China.  Aberdeen in on the southern coast of Hong Kong Island, and is (was) a fishing village with many people living in traditional Chinese junks.

Aberdeen is also home to a couple of large floating restaurants.  The Jumbo Kingdom, shown above, can seat over 2,000 diners at one time.

The picture on which this painting was based was scanned from a slide taken in 1987 and is shown below.

The Pedestal Rock Scenic Area in the Ozark National Forest of Arkansas featured a couple of nice hiking trails, a waterfall, and beautiful lichen-covered rock pedestals created by millions of years of erosion.  The drawing above shows one of the pedestals we encountered on our hikes.

The picture on which this drawing was based is shown below.

In February, 2010, Betsy and I explored the Ouachita Mountains on our way to Mt. Nebo in Arkansas.  It was the first time we had visited that part of Arkansas, and while we were looking for waterfalls we found plenty of other beauty to enjoy.

The watercolor above shows the beautiful, colorful rocks in the bed of a creek we crossed over as we drove through the Ouachitas.

The picture on which this watercolor was based is shown below.
