Christmas in the Glade

December 20, 2012

Our tree is decorated and there’s a fire in the fireplace.  The only thing missing (as far as Betsy is concerned) is snow.

We both wish you a very Merry Christmas.

Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, has a big Festival of Lights during the Christmas season.  Betsy and I have enjoyed the beautiful displays for a couple of years.  Last year we found this beautiful Christmas tree in front of a motel on the main drag.C

Little River in the Smokies

I went to my archives to get this drawing.  Last year Betsy and I made a December trip to the Smokies.  December is a great time to visit — there usually aren’t many people around, and the river levels are often pretty good.

We stopped along the Little River just inside the park near Townsend, Tennessee.  The water in the river was clear — we could clearly see rocks in the bottom of the river, and a set of rapids provided a nice contrast to the many dark colors in the scene.

Betsy really likes to decorate for Christmas, both inside and outside the house.  This little Christmas tree, decorated with lights, bows and candy canes, sits on our front porch.
