Our Sedona rose has been putting on beautiful displays all season.  The bush has grown to be fairly tall and full, and it is loaded with many gorgeous red blossoms with a touch of orange throughout.  Sedona is quickly becoming a favorite with us.

Autumn is a wonderful time to visit the Smoky Mountains.  Although the mountains and the sky are always spectacular, the autumn color of the trees is something that has to be seen to be believed.

This drawing is based on a photo taken two years ago at Newfound Gap on the Tennessee – North Carolina border.

The dogwood tree in our front yard provides a fascinating study in just about any season.  I like the way the tree looks in autumn as the leaves turn red.  I decided that the photo would make a pretty good painting, and created the image above.

I’ve mentioned before that Fairfield Glade has several lakes.  Some are very small and are , but several are large enough for boating and for lake front homes.  The largest lake in the Glade is Lake Dartmoor.  Betsy and I took a cruise on the lake with friends to enjoy the scenery and a beautiful day.

One of the highlights of our recent western trip was a visit to the chapel at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado.  This iconic structure evokes thoughts of flight and is very impressive both inside and out.

We have several small lakes here in Fairfield Glade.  Mirror Lake, behind the Lodge has a fountain.  We often pass this way on walks, and always enjoy the view.  I think Mirror Lake is especially beautiful on a sunny day in early Autumn.

When we got home from our western trip this past Thursday evening, we were surprised to find these iris blooming in our front yard.  This water color is based on a photo I took Friday morning.
