Fairfield Bay

August 30, 2012

When we were in Arkansas for Betsy’s birthday celebration, she took me to Fairfield Bay, a place she had visited several times when she lived and worked in Texas.  The lake on which the development was located is pretty, even if the water level was low because of the drought.

Gemini Rose

Gemini is one of the first roses we planted in our front yard.  It’s a bicolor — I guess that’s how it got its name — of delicate pink and white.  It also has a nice fragrance.  We’re always happy to see it in bloom.

One of the many nice things about living in the Glade is the beautiful skies we enjoy just about any time of the year.  This painting shows the sky as seen from the golf course fairway behind our house a couple of weeks ago.

We are blessed on the Cumberland Plateau with summer skies of a beautiful blue filled with white clouds.  We saw this wonderful scene on a Sunday drive along some of the back roads near Crossville, Tennessee.

Sunset Moon

I really like the sight of the moon in a blue sky.  In late July as the sun was going down I saw the moon in such a sky with peach-colored clouds.  I couldn’t resist taking several pictures.

We’ve had many beautiful lilies bloom in our yard this year.  This lily, Black Beauty, is one that we’ve had for several years.

Betsy and I are fortunate to have several different varieties of iris in our yard.  Honey Glazed is a variety that we’ve enjoyed for several years, and it provided us with many beautiful blossoms again this year.
